This Thursday!

Dear boys and girls,

Today is Monday, August 29, 2011.  This will be the last time that I will write to you because I will be busy getting ready for school to start, and once you start school, you will be busy as well!  You will have more homework in first grade than you did in kindergarten.  It will be important to do your homework so you can practice the skills you learn in class!

Did you hear the thunder a few nights ago?  Cruzer was very scared so I let him come up on the bed and he laid right next to me shivering with fear!  Poor baby!  If we were in class we could make a graph to find out how many kids were scared and how many kids were not scared.  Also, how many of you got into bed with your parents like Cruzer did!  Maybe you could tell me if you were afraid of the thunder and lightening if you are able to come to the "Stop and Drop" on Thursday.  Don't forget you are invited to come to school to bring your school supplies and meet your new teacher.  There will even be a treat!  Hope to see you there!!!

Less than two weeks until the Open House!

Hi there kids!

Today is Friday, August 19, 2011.  Back to school is getting closer and closer!  I hope you are as excited as I am!  Mr. Prowse and I were cleaning out the garage yesterday and I found a lot of things that I will take to school for prizes for kids.  I forgot I had that stuff!  It is a good idea to think about getting ready for school to start.  You will go to school all day and you will be very tired the first few weeks.  Be sure to go to bed early and get a lot of sleep!  Will you bring lunch from home or will you eat a school lunch?  I need to go shopping for a new outfit to wear the first day!  Have you been shopping for back to school things yet?  It is a good idea to buy things early because sometimes the stores run out of supplies you need.  I hope everyone will come to the "Open House, Stop and Drop"!  You will get to meet your teacher and put your school supplies away in your desk so you will be really ready for the first day.  The Open House will be Thursday, September 1, from 4:30 to 6:30!

September 1st

Dear friends,

Today is Saturday, August 13, 2011.  I have been very busy!  The week before last I went camping and spent three days on my friend's boat.  Even though I had on sunscreen, I got a little sunburn.  This past week I had a lot of school meetings and I spent a lot of time working in my classroom.  It will look a little different than last year.  I always like to change things a little!  I hope you are having a terrific August!  Make sure you try to keep up on reading, writing, and math skills so it will be easier for you in first grade!  Also remember that if you have been working on the summer homework packet that I sent home, you may bring it to your first grade teacher once school has begun and I will give a prize to you.  One last thing I would like to tell you is about meeting your first grade teacher.  On September 1st kids from Periwinkle can come to school to meet their new teacher, bring your school supplies and have a treat!  I will be there, so I hope everyone can make it because I will love to see you!

I am back at home!

Dear first grade kids,

Today is Sunday, July 31.  I am sorry I am a few days late writing to you.  I have been at the beach with some teacher friends that I used to work with.  It was a lot of fun!  Tomorow will be the first day of August.  I think July went by really fast.  Do you think so?  School will be starting in a little more than a month!  I just bought the BEAR books for the new kindergarten kids at the store today.  I miss you guys!

Omaha

Dear kind kids,
Today is Saturday, July 23, 2011. This week I have been in Omaha, Nebraska visiting family. You would not believe how hot it is there! One day the heat index was 124 degrees! And there is high humidity which makes your skin feel sweaty and sticky all the time. It also stays hot all night long! Sometimes it is hotter at night in Omaha than it is during the day in Oregon. It was a lot of fun seeing my family. We went bowling and played lots of games! Kids in Omaha start school in two weeks. I can't wait to start school so I can see all of you again!!

Teachers go to school, too!

Dear first grade friends,
Today is Saturday, July 16. I have been in Las Vegas this week at the national kindergarten conference. I went to a lot of classes that taught me some new ways to teach kindergarten. I had a lot of fun! One interesting thing I saw was a living statue. A man had on a white robe and hat and his face was painted white and he stood as still as could be! I thought it was a real statue! Have a great week!

I have been busy!

Dear Girls and Boys,

Today is Saturday, July 9, 2011.  I hope you all have been well this last week!  Did you get to watch fireworks on the 4th of July?  I went camping at the beach!  We drove out onto the beach and watched the fireworks from there.  It was really fun!!  Cruzer loves running in the sand!  When we first went on the beach, he ran in circles around me and Mr. Prowse!  It was funny when we got home he was SO tired!  Are you working on your math and writing papers?  First grade will be easier if you do!  Have a great week my friends!  Love, Mrs. Prowse

Anniversary

Hi Boys and Girls!

Today is Friday, July 1, 2001.  I am sorry this is so late today.  Today is my anniversary.  I have been married to Mr. Prowse for 16 years!  And do you know what is funny?  Mrs. Graham's anniversary is today also!  She has been married to Mr. Graham for 26 years!  Mr. Prowse rode his bicycle in a race last Sunday.  Cruzer and I had a lot of fun watching him!  A motorcycle went past and Cruzer started barking and wanted to chase it, but it was a good thing I had a tight grip on his leash!  I saw a few students at Costco yesterday and it really made me miss school and seeing all of you every day!  I hope you are having a wonderful and restful vacation!

A Summer Cold

Dear boys and girls,
Today is Friday, June 24, 2011.  I hope you have all had a wonderful week!  I have been sick with a cold this week.  Bummer!  Each day I have taken a morning nap and an afternoon nap.  That is a lot of sleeping!  Mr. Prowse and I take Cruzer to the dog park every day.  He loves it!  When we get close, he jumps around and barks in the back seat, then he can't wait to get out of the car.  He runs up to all the other dogs and runs around, hoping they will chase him.  He also loves to wrestle with other dogs.  He is so silly!  I would love to know what you have been doing!  Until next week!  Love, Mrs. Prowse ☺

I miss you already!

Dear Parents,

First I would like to again thank you all for coming to the Kindergarten Celebration on Wednesday.  The children did such a wonderful job, and I hope they are already enjoying their summer vacation.  Also, thanks to all the wonderful people who helped with putting the chairs away!  It was very much appreciated!  Please notice the links listed to the right.  These are some of my favorite websites for children.  The website http://www.clarkness.com/ has tons of free reading practice passages for many reading levels.  It will be so important to help your child retain information learned this year over the summer so he/she can blast into first grade with their feet already running!

Dear boys and girls,
Today is Friday, June 17, 2011.  I miss all of you!  I have been busy putting all of the toys away for the summer.  You would not believe how different the room looks!  The fifth grade kids came to move all of the tables and chairs into the hallway.  I am so proud of you for the wonderful job singing on Wednesday night!  Do you have any of our songs stuck in your head?  I do!  I hope you have a happy first week of summer vacation!  I will write again next Friday!  Love, Mrs. Prowse ☺
